Accomplishments
We accomplished the following:<br /> <br><br /> <br>1. Developed the NCR-203 website. The committee agreed on the structure, introductory page with links to members, past minutes, original proposal, and content areas.<br /> <br><br /> <br><br /> <br>2. Decisions were made regarding website design, structure for the overview comprehensive annotated bibliography, resources and related links.<br /> <br><br /> <br><br /> <br>3. A draft annotated bibliography for "Quality of Rural Life" has been posted to the website.<br /> <br><br /> <br><br /> <br>4. A draft bibliography for "Nonformal and Formal Education" has been posted to the website.<br /> <br><br /> <br><br /> <br>5. Sub-committee assignments were made for developing one-page concept papers for the following areas: a) Outmigration and its Impact on the Quality of Rural Schools and Life; b) Impact of Technology on the Quality of Rural Schools and Life; c) Impact of Rural and Urban Interface on the Quality of Rural Schools and Life.<br /> <br><br /> <br><br /> <br>Plans for activities over the next year involve developing the one-page concept papers and presenting them at our next meeting, continuing to pursue the idea of doing a symposium with the Southern Rural Development Center, and submit the materials for the annotated bibliographies for posting to the website.Publications

Accomplishments
We accomplished the following:<br /> <br><br /> <br>1. Reviewed the annotated bibliographies for the web site: www.ncr203.maes.msu.edu.<br /> <br><br /> <br>2. Noted that the annotated bibliographies for School Technology and Rural Community Infrastructure will be added to the web site soon.<br /> <br><br /> <br>3. Reassigned lead responsibility for the Rural Communities in Contest to Meredith Redlin due to the resignation of a member.<br /> <br><br /> <br>4. Discussed the proposed symposium on human capital since the previous plans for coordinating this did not developed as planned due to the resignation of a member. The committee decided to pursue funding for a symposium. If funding is available the committee will move forward with plans to have a symposium. If funding for this is not available the committee would not be in a position to fulfill this objective.<br /> <br><br /> <br>5. The coordination and focus of the symposium was discussed and it was decided:<br /> <br><br /> <br> a. to maintain a think tank atmosphere so that it takes place in a condensed time<br /> <br> b. include topics on demographic change and immigration as well as topics which were previously discussed.<br /> <br> c. not to align it with any one discipline<br /> <br> d. have a keynote speaker<br /> <br> e. symposium feedback should be organized through computer access at the location<br /> <br> f. possible location would be UIUCPublications
