Accomplishments

The NC-1177 group produced a substantial and diverse body of scholarship spanning agricultural finance, agribusiness management, and commodity and farmland markets.

More than 130 publications were produced between 2024 and 2025, with a heavy focus on Objective 4, followed by Objectives 2, 1, and 3. These publications include peer-reviewed journal articles and extension publications. NC-1177 members also actively engaged in presenting their scholarly work and had a significant presence at major academic conferences, including the annual meeting of the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) and other regional conferences. For the list of publications, please refer to the publication list document.

Members also did not limit themselves to research publications but sought ways to reach the broader public. As shown in the publication list, NC-1177 members produced numerous extension publications in well-known outlets such as Farmdoc and Southern Ag Today. Additional localized publications were also produced through university extension systems.

NC-1177 saw an increase in attendance at its annual meeting, from 34 attendees in 2024 to 46 in 2025. The increase came not only from faculty members but also from early-career faculty and a substantial rise in graduate student participation. This growth in membership highlights the increasing interest in the field and the objectives of the multistate project, as well as its expanding impact in academia.
Publications

- NC-1177 saw an increase in attendance at its annual meeting, from 34 attendees in 2024 to 46 in 2025. The increase came not only from faculty members but also from early-career faculty and a substantial rise in graduate student participation. This growth in membership highlights the increasing interest in the field and the objectives of the multistate project, as well as its expanding impact in academia. As noted in the accomplishments, NC-1177 members have actively engaged in teaching, research, and extension. More than 120 research and extension publications were produced by members who reported their activity outcomes. These publications were recognized through placement in top peer-reviewed journals, extension outlets, and mass media. Funding secured by NC-1177 members reflects their impact at the state, regional, and national levels. Many of these funds were used to enhance understanding of farmland markets, educate producers, and help policymakers better understand the financial conditions of producers in the United States. Members of NC-1177 have actively conducted research. The group’s closely affiliated journal, Agricultural Finance Review, has a CiteScore of 3.7 (Scopus), a 5-year impact factor of 2 (Clarivate), and ranks at least in Q2 according to Scimago.
