Accomplishments
The SERA35 group engaged in formal presentation and discussion of current farm management research and extension activities in each of the states represented. Formal topics of discussion included: economic analysis of Arkansas Foundation Seed Program, surface water infrastructure investment on crop mix and groundwater conservation, use of irrigation practices in Arkansas, eonomic analysis of corn and soybean crop residue management and tillage strategies in Mississippi, grower input in farm program decision tool development, policy and production economics interactions in Mid-South soybeans, commodity price analysis for the 2018 Farm Bill, eonomics of potassium use in soybeans and rice, MarketMaker and MarketReady Programs in Louisiana’s Farm to School Program, and economic comparison of rice cultivars under conventional and organic management.
Impacts
- 1. The basic goal of this activity is to foster increased communication and collaboration among agricultural economists in the mid-South working in the area of farm management. Impacts of this effort result in better information and analysis of issues impacting farm finances being made available to producer clientele groups in the region.
