Accomplishments
We accomplished the following:
1. Reviewed the annotated bibliographies for the web site: www.ncr203.maes.msu.edu.
2. Noted that the annotated bibliographies for School Technology and Rural Community Infrastructure will be added to the web site soon.
3. Reassigned lead responsibility for the Rural Communities in Contest to Meredith Redlin due to the resignation of a member.
4. Discussed the proposed symposium on human capital since the previous plans for coordinating this did not developed as planned due to the resignation of a member. The committee decided to pursue funding for a symposium. If funding is available the committee will move forward with plans to have a symposium. If funding for this is not available the committee would not be in a position to fulfill this objective.
5. The coordination and focus of the symposium was discussed and it was decided:
a. to maintain a think tank atmosphere so that it takes place in a condensed time
b. include topics on demographic change and immigration as well as topics which were previously discussed.
c. not to align it with any one discipline
d. have a keynote speaker
e. symposium feedback should be organized through computer access at the location
f. possible location would be UIUC
