Outcomes:Monthly teleconference meetings between SERA-17, NRCS, and USEPA CAFO section (SERA-17 Exchange Group) has provided important technical information for NRCS. Outputs:TECHNICAL GUIDANCE FOR ASSESSING PHOSPHORUS INDICES is a SERA-17 publication developed to explain current state-level Phosphorus Index activities. Activities: SERA-17 held a day and a half-meeting to explore alternatives for phosphorus management of animal wastes and discuss future work. In addition the modeling subgroup of SERA-17 met frequently to develop the Technical Guidance for Assessing Phosphorus Indices. Lastly, monthly SERA-17 Exchange meetings were held. Milestones: The group continues to provide information as requested or needed by USDA NRCS.

Impacts

SERA-17 provided a framework for USDA-NRCS to assess and modify state phosphorus indices, which is essential for USDA-NRCS 590 Nutrient Management strategy.
