Gail Cramer  SERA-IEG 19 Research Advisor Renewal Proposal " The proposal for renewing the SERA-IEG 19 has been submitted and is awaiting final approval by the Association of Southern Region Extension Directors and the Southern Association of Agricultural Experiment Station Directors "There are no suggested changes that need to be made to the renewal proposal. "A copy of the renewal proposal is available on the SERA-IEG 19 website at http://srdc.msstate.edu/sera19/   " The SERA-IEG 19 needs to find ways to market what it does in both the research and Extension arenas. "A special thanks is given to Dr. Cramer and James Barnes for assembling and submitting the renewal proposal. Farm Bill  The Farm Bill is still being marked up, but there is plenty to do. Specific funds have seen some increase including: "Smith-Lever: Increased 6 percent "Hatch: Increased 9 percent "McIntire-Stennis: Increased 5 percent "1890 Extension: Increased 12 percent There will continue to be increasing attention focused on raising funds through competitive grants. Formula funding will continue to drop. The SERA-IEG 19 group should look at grant funding opportunities. Nominating Committee  The nominating committee consisted of Alan Barefield (Chair), Bonnie Carew and Bobbi Clarke. The committee presented a motion to nominate Ann Sansing as the 2008-2009 Secretary, the 2009-2010 Chair-Elect and the 2010-2011 Chair. The motion was seconded by Gerald Doeksen and approved unanimously by those present. Priester Conference "Priester Conference will be held on April 6-8, 2009 in Indianapolis, IN "Theme: Healthy Transitions in a Changing World "Specific program tracks include: oHealthy Families oHealth Across the Lifespan oSustainable Communities "The SERA-IEG 19 will have a ½ day block to meet at Priester. Activities to be included in this block are: oHealth Institute curriculum work session oStrategic plan update session "More information will follow 2008 Meeting Proceedings "The Proceedings Committee consists of James Barnes (Chair), Matt Fannin, Marcus Comer, Laura Booth and Marilyn Swanson. "Proceedings drafts are due to James Barnes by September 15, 2008. Increased Participation Discussion  As part of an effort to increase participation in the SERA-IEG 19, the possibility of holding monthly/bimonthly/quarterly teleconferences was discussed. James Barnes (2008-2009 Chair) will explore the possibility of scheduling these calls. 2008-2009 Work Project  By unanimous consent, the 2008-2009 work project will continue to be the conversion of the Health Institute curriculum to the CECP/Moodle format under the leadership of Bobbi Clarke. 2009 Annual Meeting "The 2009 Annual Meeting will be held in Nashville Tennessee close to the Vanderbilt campus/Meharry Medical School "Dates of interest included the 3rd and 4th weeks in July and the 1st and 2nd weeks in August "2009 Annual Meeting Planning Committee consists of: Sandy Wiggins (Chair), Bobbi Clarke, Rita Fleming, Ann Sansing and Alan Barefield
