Statement of Issues and Justification

Sheep are economically important livestock in the intermountain west that require access to rangelands for seasonal grazing throughout the year. Declining budgets and changing priorities in Colleges of Agriculture at LGU and within USDA-ARS has resulted in significantly reduced research, extension and education in the area of sheep management on western rangelands. A WDC is necessary to bring together College of Agriculture and USDA-ARS leadership and scientist to discuss ways to collaboratively maintain and enhance this important industry in the intermountain west.
