Additional Info

On behalf of the organizers of the MPS NC-1206 (Antimicrobial Resistance) meeting in Atlanta in February, I would like to request that you confirm your attendance to the meeting by January 4, 2019 by sending an e-mail to me (ri25@cornell.edu). Knowing how many confirmed attendees we have is necessary to be able to calculate the participation fee, which will cover the cost of the meeting venue (room, projector, drinks). Thank you for your help with this!

We have a few new members and to make sure that all are in the loop about the meeting I wanted to reiterate main information:

Meeting dates: the meeting will be on Feb 11-12, 2019. This will be a 2-half day meeting (it will start around noon on Monday and finish around noon on Tuesday).

Meeting venue: Embassy Suites by Hilton Atlanta Airport, 4700 Southport Rd., Atlanta, GA. 30337, +1-800-362-2779
A block of 15 rooms have been reserved at the rate of $139.00 p/night plus taxes & fees. For those traveling in that may need a room the night before or after the meeting, the rate of $139.00 will be honored but rooms are not being held, therefore please make sure you reserve early. When calling to reserve a room please be sure to reference Michigan State University so you get a room from the reserved block and the special rate.

Meeting agenda: Attached is our tentative agenda for the meeting. Everyone should plan to present a 5-minute summary of past progress (day 1) and thoughts of where you think funding situation will be the coming year and research needs (day 2).

Confirmed guest speakers: We have confirmed guest speakers from CDC, USDA and The Pew Charitable Trust:

1. Dawn M. Sievert, PhD, MS
Associate Director for Antimicrobial Resistance
Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases
CDC

2. Mervalin Morant, PhD
National Program Leader, Food Safety
USDA NIFA

3. Karin Hoelzer, DVM, PhD
Senior Officer, Health Programs (antibiotic resistance)
The Pew Charitable Trusts

Participation fee*: Based on our preliminary calculations, the participation fee will be around $100/participant and possibly lower depending on the number of participants. Several participants need to know the participation fee in advance to be able to secure payment beforehand and that is why we need to know who is coming.
*Note: Participation fee does not apply to guest speakers.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,
Renata

On behalf of meeting organizers:
Timothy Johnson, john2185@purdue.edu
George Smith, smithge7@anr.msu.edu
Renata Ivanek, ri25@cornell.edu
