  • W2005 met the following milestones for 2016
    • (2014): 2. If sufficient literature on the impact of parenting on child obesity is identified to warrant a meta-analysis, then one will be conducted that includes the results of objective 2006 W1005. Diet Quality and Parenting made progress but are not completed. These results and recommendations for future research will be published and presented for discussion and comment to provide new directions for prevention of childhood obesity. Results thus far have been published by all three working groups.
    • (2015): 1.Execute the protocol for discussion groups at a variety of venues. 2. Compile and prioritize. Physical Activity is close to achieving this goal.
    • (2016): 1. Develop resources based upon results.Several presentations have been developed this year.
(2017): 1.Disseminate via webinars through eXtension, CYFERnet (Children, Youth and Families Education and Research Network), and professional organizations (e.g., National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior, Preister Conference). All of these webinars will be archived for future use. A second avenue of dissemination will be translational presentations at professional meetings (e.g., National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior, Priester Conference). Several presentations have been conducted this year.
      • If sufficient literature on the impact of parenting on child obesity is identified to warrant a meta-analysis, then one will be conducted that includes the results of objective 2006 W1005. Physical Activity: literature does not support need for new meta-analysis, Diet Quality and Parenting in progress, Parenting conducted a systematic review.
      • These results and recommendations for future research will be published and presented for discussion and comment to provide new directions for prevention of childhood obesity. Physical Activity has written a manuscript ready for submission to a peer reviewed journal; Diet Quality led a national presentation on all three subgroups’ findings.
      • Develop the protocol for discussion groups at the state, regional, or national level to prioritize and assess the feasibility of objective 1 findings for translation to the community level. Physical Activity is in process of assessing.
      • Further developed a cohesive multi-state project team with focused working groups
