The committee reviewed new projects NC213 (NC_temp213)Marketing and Delivery of Quality Grains and BioProcess Coproducts and NCCC207 (NC_temp207) Biochemistry and Genetics of Plant-Fungal Interactions and reviewed midterm reports for projects NC205 Ecology and Management of European Corn Borer and Other Lepidopteran Pests of Corn, NC1186 Water Management and Quality for Ornamental Crop Production and Health, NC1187, The Chemical and Physical Nature of Particulate Matter Affecting Air, Water and Soil Quality, NCCC31, Ecophysiological Aspects of Forage Management, and NCCC211, Cover crops to improve environmental quality in crop and biofuel production systems in the Great Lakes and Upper Mississippi basins. Overall, the committee felt that the quality of project reports and impacts has improved significantly. State reports were presented for Purdue University, the University of Missouri, the University of Illinois, North Dakota State University, the University of Minnesota, the University of Nebraska, Michigan State University, and Iowa State University. Ray Knighton, NIFA Administrative Advisor for the group, connected by conference call to provide an update to the group. The group visited the Danforth Plant Science Center and Monsanto's research facilities in St. Louis as part of the activities.
