Richard Beeson provided a tour of the new research station in Apopka, Florida, and arranged for a tour of the Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando, Florida. Winston Dunwell led the group in a review and discussion of a manuscript currently in submission to HortTechnology on the history of the group and its activities. On line plant data collection materials were discussed for the group homepage http://www.ag.auburn.edu/landscape/SERAhomepage.html. Data collection forms were revised. Sponsors agreed to provide a distributor list with future distributions for inclusion on the website. A uniform coding system for plant trial entries was agreed upon. It was agreed that plant sponsors for testing would be responsible for annual reports on their plants, provision of images for the web page, and writing a summary article for the Proceedings of the Southern Nursery Research Conference at the conclusion of the evaluation period for each taxon. It was agreed to place minutes of the meetings on the website. Aimee Coker, from Flowerwood Nursery in Bushnell, Florida, provided an overview of their Encore Plants program.

Accomplishments

Nineteen taxa have been distributed among the participants of SERA IEG 27 for landscape evaluation. The number of years for which evaluation data will be collected ranges from 3 to 10 years. The first set of plants from which terminal data will be taken is scheduled for ??2002. However, preliminary data are already shaping local decisions related to landscape plant recommendations.
