- It was unanimously decided that Larry Katz would succeed Rich Erdman as the groups chairperson for 2008. He would work together with Ian Hart to draw up next years agreement. - Hart reported that in accordance with the minutes of the last meeting, and with the help of Rubie Mize, he had successfully pursued the process of changing the numbering of this committee from NEAC1000 to NEAC002. - Hart also reported that he had raised the question of NEAC002 reviewing relevant new/renewed multistate proposals with the NERA. None of the NERA membership could remember why there had been any objection and it was felt that the additional input would be beneficial. - Copies of 'CREATE 21 - A Bold Proposal' were distributed and there was a lengthy discussion of the merits or otherwise of the proposal. - Similarly there was a lengthy discussion of the use of federal earmarks to fund agricultural research as opposed to the use of grants.
