1. Reserve Your Room Now
Lodging is arranged with the UF Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in Gainesville at 1714 SW 34th Street, Gainesville, Florida, 32607, USA. Our rate is guaranteed at $129.00/night, plus tax/fees. Some may qualify for a lower rate with acceptable gov’t ID. Room block rate includes the evenings of Jan 6 and Jan 9 to accommodate travel needs. There is no fee for parking.
Visit the link https://group.hilton.com/z45tl6 and register now with your credit card. Everyone is responsible for their own travel - submit travel reimbursement to your organization as you typically do.
Plan to attend both meetings – your travel may be supported if you are from an1862 LGU and are an active member of S1085 MS-HATCH. Your administrator should provide a Chartfield if so.
2. Arrange Your Travel Florida
If you need to fly, our airport is the Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) located about 20 minutes from the hotel. GNV services primarily Delta and American Airlines, plus other carriers; connections from Dallas-Ft. Worth, Atlanta, Charlotte are most common. If possible, avoid the last flight in or out of Gainesville (frequently late or cancelled). Two international airports, Orlando (MCO) and Jacksonville (JAX), are a 2-hour drive to the hotel.
All three airports offer rental car services – reserve in advance and confirm your reservation < week before. Rental cars in Florida can be scarce. FYI, the Hilton houses an AVIS rental kiosk (staffed) – location code is G1V.
From GNV, there are also Ubers and Taxis –travel will cost $25-40 each way. From MCO and JAX, there are buses– cheap, one-way cost ($20) but slow (4.5
hours). If there is a demand, we can investigate shuttle options. I’m also happy to ferry folks locally to/from GNV airport to the Hilton.
3. Agendas
Official agendas are forthcoming, but in general, it is best to arrive the day before the meeting. Transportation to the meeting facility (5 min drive) will be provided, but parking is also available.
While we encourage everyone to attend in person, some may need to Zoom in. We got you covered – the meeting facility has an excellent AV system. Connection information will be provided.
January 7 - The SCCC Board will meet from 8:00 am – 3:30 PM (tentative), then will tour the Hilton facility to plan for our upcoming COVER CROP CONFERENCE February 2026. HATCH members are welcome to join! Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided.
4. Food and Beverage
The hotel has a bar and a restaurant onsite, and there are many restaurants within a short drive and a few within walking distance. Campus is across the street and a great place for a scenic morning run.
If you have any questions about the hotel, transportation, or similar logistics, please contact Danielle Treadwell ddtreadw@ufl.edu or Carlene Chase cachase@ufl.edu. Danielle can answer SCCC Board agenda questions too.
If you have questions about the HATCH agenda, plans of work, or HATCH administrative questions, contact Jake Mowrer at jake.mowrer@tamu.edu or Gabriel Maltais-Landry maltaislandryg@ufl.edu
