NC-1186 ANNUAL MEETING 2024<br /> <br /> Dates: May 22-24, 2024<br /> <br /> Meeting Location: The meeting will take place at the Rutgers Agricultural Research and Extension Center (RAREC) at 121 Northville Road, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.<br /> <br /> Lodging: Here is a short list of hotels, all within a 20-minute drive to the Rutgers Agricultural Research and Extension Center (RAREC). The first hotel in Glassboro is next to Rowan University, and has a variety of dining options within walking distance and a campus ambience. <br /> 1. Courtyard by Marriot Glassboro Rowan University (3 star)(325 Rowan Boulevard, Glassboro, NJ, 08028; Tel: 856-881-0048). Free WiFi and parking; pool, hot tub. Breakfast available (not free). About 35-minute drive from the Philadelphia airport. Price range ($170 to $200, plus tax ~15%). Variety of dining options within walking distance.<br /> 2. Hampton Inn & Suites Vineland (3 star)(2134 W. Landis Ave., Vineland, NJ 08360; Tel: 856-405-0600). Includes free breakfast, parking and WiFi; indoor pool, fitness center. About 45-minute drive from the Philadelphia airport. Price range ($145 to $200, plus tax ~15%). Variety of dining options within short driving distance.<br /> 3. Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Millville-Vineland (2 star)( 301 Bluebird Ln., Millville, NJ 08332; Tel: 856-776-2400). Includes free breakfast, parking and WiFi; indoor pool, fitness center. About 45-minute drive from the Philadelphia airport. Price range ($150 to $190, plus tax ~15%). Variety of dining options within short driving distance.<br /> <br /> Travel: The Philadelphia airport is about 40 miles (~45 minutes) to RAREC and the hotels. The Newark airport is about 2 hours (110 miles) away, similar to the Baltimore airport (2:15 hours, 110 miles).<br /> <br /> Preliminary Meeting Agenda:<br /> May 22= Mid-afternoon (2-5pm range) visit to a native plant nursery in Columbus, NJ (about 45-minute drive from the Philadelphia airport). Consider this a “pre-meeting” visit. <br /> May 23= Morning visit to a premier greenhouse with water recycling (Monroeville, NJ). Annual meeting rest of the day (~11am to 5pm).<br /> May 24= Morning visits to two container nurseries with water recycling programs (both in Bridgeton, NJ). NC-1186 members departure (around noon).<br /> NOTES: <br /> The final/confirmed order of activities, in particular the nursery/greenhouse visits and lunch arrangements for May 23-24 (and whether a small registration fee might be needed to offset these costs), will be shared with you all in the weeks to come. <br /> For the annual meeting, please prepare a short (10-15 min.) station report (research-extension activities) presentation. Whether you provide a station report presentation or not, each experiment station needs to provide a written station report.
