NE1941 will hold its annual meeting virtually (Zoom) on August 14-15, 2023. Please contact Mike Westendorf for further information.<br /> <br /> Future of the group (from Mike Westendorf):<br /> <br /> 1. A new project rewrite will need to be initiated for 2024 approval. We will need to begin the rewrite after this year's meeting.<br /> <br /> 2. Future leadership. I cannot commit to the group past the completion of this current 5-year project, which will end on September 30, 2024.<br /> <br /> 3. These 5-years Multi-States are valuable for all and often may substitute for Station projects.<br /> <br /> 4. The following ideas were discussed at our recent phone call as new ideas for research: Climate change, carbon sequestration in soils, coping with summer droughts, and soil health. The role of solar grazing or agri-voltaics was also discussed. <br /> <br /> 5. If we don't complete a rewrite, then next year will end this current 5-year cycle and we will submit a final 5-year report.<br /> <br /> 6. Unless someone feels led to be the champion for the project, we will complete the project at the end of this cycle. Be that as it may, I believe we have had a very successful project. We can spend some time in our August 2024 meeting discussing and summarizing where we have come from and challenges for the future.<br /> <br /> Our final 2024 meeting is planned to take place in Kentucky. We look forward to Bob Coleman's being able to assist in hosting the meeting. If this is our final meeting, perhaps we can discuss during this year's meeting what we would like the 2024 meeting to be.<br />
