NE1545 will hold its annual meeting Sunday, Nov 10, 2019 from 2:30 pm - 6 pm at the SSSA/CSA/ASA annual meeting in San Antonio, TX (https://www.acsmeetings.org/).

The meeting will be in the Hyatt Grand - Bonham D (check program in case of changes). Early registration rates end on Sept 26. RSVPs to the NE1545 meeting are greatly appreciated for planning purposes.

This year, we're changing up the format a little, to take advantage of the fact that this is one of the few opportunities for lots of wastewater-minded folks with research backgrounds to be in the same room together, discussing some of the wastewater-related challenges and solutions we may be facing at our respective institutions. This year, the grad students from URI's soil ecology & microbiology lab will be running the meeting (myself, Bianca Ross and Sara Wigginton) - George isn't able to make it this year.

Here's how the meeting will be structured this year:

• 15 mins - Introductions & logistics
• 1.5 hours - Each institution will share a brief wastewater-related presentation:
• 3 slides (!) describing "greatest achievements/hits" of your institution's activities this year (this is what you should expand upon and write up nicely for the annual report)
• 1-3 slides describing "challenges/needs" your institution/program faces - this is an opportunity for us to get an idea of common needs, opportunities for collaborations,
ideas to spitball about. It will set us up nicely for the rest of the meeting
• 45 mins - Informally discuss opportunities for inter-institutional collaboration for research projects, ways we can help each other overcome some of the challenges we
are currently facing, share ideas/strategies/best practices... Come ready with a clear "ask" for the group (can be in slides mentioned above). We feel that this is probably
the most valuable part of the NE1545 meeting - a chance to connect meaningfully with other like-minded folks!
• 1 hr - Discuss interest & participation in NE 2045 (1545 will be over in September 2020). Prepare to help draft focus areas for research. Here's the link to the current 1545 description - feel free to share this info with other folks who might be interested in joining this effort.

As usual, we need to complete the NE 1545 annual report. The directions for this are the same as always:

Please submit info for each section of the NE 1545 Annual Report that applies to your institution and report by Project Objectives. Please follow this procedure: Take last year's annul report (attached) find your entries, cut and paste in new info, delete other materials not from you. Save the file with your institution's initials and 2019 in the file name, and email to me. I will work with George to assemble, format and upload to web site. I will not have the time to wordsmith your materials - so please make sure your file is complete. I encourage you to submit your reports in a short-and-sweet (condensed) format - we have word and character limitations for uploading.

For the MEETING MINUTES SECTION, please also make sure you include a brief summary of what you talked about during your presentation at the annual meeting (we do not take notes at the meeting -- focus on the "achievements", the "challenges/needs" are not necessarily part of the report).
Please pay special attention to the Impacts and the Indicators of Impact sections of the report. In particular please report on these following categories (include others as appropriate):
• Number of classes/workshops conducted - and number of practitioners, homeowners reached (please specify for each group)
• Number of classes related to design of OWTS - and design professionals reached
• Number of people having taken your classes that received a license/certification enabling to do a new service /task
• Number of practitioners that received CEUs towards their professional license renewal
• Number of OWTS (conventional or A&I) that may have been designed or installed as a (direct or indirect) result of your programs educational or research efforts
You are required to submit your institution's report to me, even if you do not attend the annual meeting. The deadline for your report submission to me is
November 17, 2019. Please be punctual.

Feel free to pass on this info to other interested parties, and if we've missed anybody in our mailing list!

Looking forward to seeing you in November!
