This will be a pre-conference to the 2018 ICABR meeting hosted by The World Bank, 1818 H Street, NW Washington, DC 20433<br /> <br /> Pre-Conference only (one day, June 12) <br /> Full: $200<br /> Student: $100<br /> <br /> The annual research conference and business meeting of U.S. multistate research project, NC1034: Impact Analysis and Decision Strategies for Agricultural Research will be held on June 12, 2018 as a pre-conference in conjunction with the 2018 International Consortium on Applied Bioeconomy (ICABR) Conference on “Disruptive Innovations, Value Chains, and Rural Development.”<br /> <br /> http://www.worldbank.org/en/events/2017/10/11/disruptive-innovations-value-chains-and-rural-development<br /> <br /> This conference, organized in partnership with the World Bank, will take place on June 12–15, 2018 in Washington DC. It will serve as a multidisciplinary forum to facilitate interactions between leading academics, World Bank staff, policymakers, government experts, civil society organizations, private-sector representatives, and representatives of other international organizations, and to showcase the present frontier knowledge on these issues.<br /> <br /> The conference will be organized with contributed papers, organized sessions, and lightning talks. We highly encourage participation from the private sector to showcase their innovative products and bring real-world perspectives to the discussions of the nature and consequences of innovations in the value chain for farm-based food, fuel, and fiber products.<br /> • Preliminary list of Plenary Speakers: Thomas Reardon (MSU), Paul Romer (World Bank), Jo Swinnen (KU Leuven), Maximo Torero (World Bank Board), Joachim von Braun (ZEF-University of Bonn), David Zilberman (UC Berkeley).<br /> • A plenary session to honor the professional life of Hans Binswanger will be organized by Prabhu Pingali from Cornell University.<br /> • There will also be a “Student Marketplace Event” More information will be available in the coming months.<br /> <br /> For the NC-1034 Preconference on Impact Analysis and Decision Strategies for Agricultural Research, we invite submission of paper abstracts and proposals for organized sessions on the following topics: <br /> • Policy implications of emerging agricultural technologies<br /> • Benefits of public and private investments in agricultural research <br /> • Economic and environmental effects of new agricultural technologies<br /> • Public-private sector linkages, technology transfer arrangements, and intellectual property<br /> • Sources of agricultural productivity growth<br /> <br /> You are invited to submit paper or session proposals for the pre-conference, the ICABR conference, or both.
