The year’s conference will be held from Wednesday, May 17 through Friday, May 19, 2017. Arrival on the evening of Tuesday, May 16th is recommended. There is more information on the conference web site: http://www.cocorahs.org/WERA-2017/Home.html This conference is open to anyone with an interest in volunteer weather observer networks, or in citizen science networks and issues in general. It's a great opportunity to network with CoCoRaHS staff, coordinators from around the U.S. and Canada, NWS staff, and CoCoRaHS users. This year’s meeting will focus on several interrelated areas of interest. These are possible topics: The catch from extreme precipitation events – gauge to gauge. Coordinators mentoring other coordinators Evapotranspiration – what are we learning from our atmometers? Soil moisture PRISM update Getting CoCoRaHS into MADIS Monthly and annual precipitation maps or a selectable period of interest Subsidizing gauges – how well is it working? Engaging tribes to improve coverage in remote areas CISA report on their activities with Condition Monitoring NDMC priorities and direction (Mark Svoboda new director) If you have suggestions for sub-topics within these areas or other areas you would like explored, or if you might be interested in giving a specific presentation please contact me (contact info below). We will be working to fill out the agenda over the next month. The registration fee for the conference is $120.00 ($130.00 after April 15th). YMCA of the Rockies room rates include three meals per day and use of many facilities. Our off-peak daily rates are as follows: One adult per room - $119; Two adults per room - $77.00 each adult; Three adults per room - $63.00 per adult. There is ground transportation from Denver International Airport for $45 one way ($85 round trip).
