2016 Annual WERA-1022 Meeting <br /> <br /> Meteorological and Climate data to Support ET-based Irrigation Scheduling, Water Conservation, and Water Resources Management<br /> <br /> Date: Sept 6-8, 2016<br /> Meeting Location and Accommodation: Wildlife Farms, Casscoe, AR (near Little Rock Arkansas)<br /> <br /> Sept 6 (Tuesday)<br /> <br /> 3 PM Meet at Rice Research and Extension Center (2900 Hwy 130 E, Stuttgart, AR) to tour irrigated rice studies. Host: Chris Henry. The Rice Station is 15 minutes from Wilderness Lodge and about an hour and a half from LIT and 2 hours from MEM. Plan to be outside for this, we will be doing field activities with poly pipe for those who would like to see how this is used for rice and furrow irrigation. <br /> <br /> 5 PM Arrive at Wildlife Farms Lodge. It is an hour and a half drive from LIT and a two hour drive from MEM. <br /> <br /> 7 PM Dinner at Wildlife Farms (provided). (Optional)<br /> <br /> 5 PM Arrive Holiday Inn near Little Rock Airport, Dinner on your own. <br /> <br /> Sept 9 (Friday) Return flight for those who could not get a flight on Day 3<br /> <br /> Lodging, Meals, and Transportation<br /> Plan to fly into Little Rock Airport (LIT), alternatively some may have better options using the Memphis airport (MEM) but it is further to drive. <br /> <br /> Drive to Wildlife Farms directly from Airport on Day 1. Plan on arriving by 5 PM. <br /> Cost: $595, all inclusive, includes dinner on Day 1, all meals and breaks Day 2, and breakfast and lunch on Day 3 and room for two nights and all applicable taxes. For federal employees, the accommodation rate is $89/ night or $178, meals $51/ day ($11/$12/$23/$5) for this location. For your approval, figure provided meals as dinner $23 for day 1, meals for day 2, $51, and breakfast and lunch on day 3 as $23 for a total of $97 for the trip. The remainder is $320 for registration (meeting room and entertainment). (501) 490-1000, 3201 Bankhead Dr., Little Rock, AR 72206<br /> <br /> A rental car will be required. It is strongly encouraged to coordinate departure from airports to Wildlife Farms. It is a 1 hour 20 minutes, drive between Wildlife Farms and Little Rock. From Memphis the drive is 2 hours. Figure a 2 hour drive after we finish on last day to Memphis airport and 45 minutes to the Little Rock Airport. <br /> <br /> Some of the activities will be outdoors at a worksite, bring closed toed shoes, sunscreen, hats, expect to do some walking, some will be outdoors especially at the ACE site and farm. <br /> <br /> Sites to visit if coming in early or have spare time before departure in Little Rock, Arkansas<br /> If coming in early on Monday and have spare time these are a short distance from airport.
