Additional Info

SAC-1 will meet from May 15-17, 2016 in Gainesville, FL:

1. Hotel accommodations. We have blocked hotel rooms at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center for the meeting. Please book your rooms prior to April 25 by visiting: http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/groups/personalized/G/GVNCCHF-SRD516-20160515/index.jhtml?WT.mc_id=POG

2. Agenda. Please find a draft agenda attached, your comments are welcome. Note you should plan on arriving Sunday evening and we should be through with meetings by ~11 am Tuesday. Suggestions on agenda topics for the discussion section are particularly welcome. For example, Ramesh and I met this morning and thought that we could include discussion on sharing online courses, and multi-state project development.

3. Survey data. At our last SAC-1 meeting I was asked to get the survey used by agricultural engineering departments to help us determine if we wanted to collect similar data. This survey is in the excel spreadsheet attached. In addition, please see the attached “SRAC2001” survey file which I obtained from Ramesh that contains survey data that used to be annually collected by this group. Please look over the surveys and then let me know your preference for using either of them, modifying them, or not doing this at all. I think we should consider what the data would be used for prior to going through the effort of collecting data, particularly if it is as complicated as the engineering survey. Ramesh indicated part of the original purpose was to allow chairs to determine if their department was competitive in faculty salaries and departmental resources and if not to discuss this with their Deans. Perhaps some of you would know if this strategy was effective? If we are going to collect data and discuss it at the meeting then I would think we would need to summarize it by May 1 to send out to everyone.

SAC-1 Draft Agenda
May 15-17, 2016, Gainesville Florida
Sunday, May 15:
Chairs arrive in Gainesville, airport transfers arranged by UF Hilton.
